Dog Hair Everywhere?

How many times have you been dressed up, headed out the door, only to realize you are covered in the glistening decor of dog hair?  You desperately hunt for a pet hair remover that will restore your “clean” clothes to their former glory, only to come up short.

How to Remove Pet Hair - Definitive Buyers Guide by Big Dog Mom

Without a pet hair removal tool, we instinctively brush the dog hair off with our hands, increasing its magnetism to our clothes.

Sigh.

Tis the life of a big dog owner.

Until now!

In this post (and VIDEO), I am putting the 7 most popular dog hair removal tools to the test.

How well do these products actually perform when put to the big dog test?

Dog Hair Remover Test Design

I selected the following 7 pet hair mover products based on their ranking on Amazon (keyword “dog hair removal products”) and their design.

As you will see, all 7 of these products have a unique design.  From rollers to brushes to rubbery scrapers, these pet hair removers all tout their bona fides when it comes to removing dog hair from your clothes and furniture.

And, based on their ranking on Amazon, all of them must have some efficacy when it comes to removing dog hair.

This review will, in the end, illustrate how well each of these products removes dog hair from the following commonly soiled surfaces in the typical big dog home:

  1. Dog Bed
  2. Furniture (upholstery)
  3. Clothing (black pants)
  4. Car Interior (cargo carpet)

We will answer your burning question, “Which pet hair remover is the best?”

But before we get there, I want to take a minute and share a little about each of the pet hair remover products we will be testing.

These are in order of how they rank on Amazon.

Top Ranked Dog Hair Removal Products

1. Chom Chom Roller Pet Hair Remover

This is a dog hair remover that I have used before when attempting to clean the carpet in the cargo space of our Navigator.

The Chom Chom Roller is marketed as a reusable and sturdy pet hair remover that doesn’t require the use of an adhesive or batteries.

According to the company,

“The ChomChom Roller is one of the World’s Best Pet Hair Remover. By simply moving the pet hair roller back and forth, you immediately track and pick up cat hairs and dog hairs embedded deeply in sofas, couches, beds, carpets, blankets, comforters, and more.”

The rolling action traps the pet hair in the chamber and is easily cleaned out by pressing the handle to release and cleanout.

2. Lilly Brush Detailer

With a very different design as compared to the Chom Chom Roller, the Lilly Brush is sold in a variety of configurations depending on what you need.

For example, the Mini Lilly Brush Detailer (the one we are reviewing in this test) is designed to clean out carpets and fabrics, whereas the Fluffy Pets Brush is for coated dogs with long, fluffy fur, Save Our Sweaters works specifically for cleaning fabrics like cashmere, wool, and silk, and the Pro Pet Hair Tool Kit to “de-fur every inch of your car’s interior.”

According to the company, the Mini Lilly Brush Detailer is the

“#1 Choice of professional detailers. … The Mini’s powerful cleaning blade removes stubborn trapped pet hair from carpets and fabrics with minimum effort. Use for car details, home cleaning, and clothing lint and hair. Portable, versatile, and long-lasting!”

3. Fur-Zoff Pet Hair Remover

With one of the most creative designs and humorous marketing, the Fur-Zoff Pet Hair Remover is made of 90% post-consumer recycled materials and is hypo-allergenic and odor-free.

According to the company,

“Fur-Zoff is More effective, durable, and earth-friendly than any other product for cleaning pet hair from the fabrics in your life. With a light sweeping motion, its unique rigid hair scaled texture removes hair from carpets and fabrics in homes and vehicles quickly and easily.”

The Fur-Zoff Pet Hair Remover is made in the USA and, like other products in this review, has nothing to plug in, wear out, or replace.

4. Brellavi Pet Hair Remover

Probably the most involved of all of the products I am reviewing, the Brellavi Pet Hair Remover comes with two different size brushes (one for home and one for travel) and a self-cleaning base.

Advertised as a fur remover for couches, carpets, linens, pillows, clothing, and car seats, the Brellavi brush is double-sided and self-cleaning.

According to the company,

“Just a few swipes of the brush scoops up pet fur without damaging the target surface. Once the brush is full of fur, just dip it into the self-cleaning base a few times, and it will be ready to use. No need for scrubbing or rinsing with water.”

Keep in mind, the Brellavi Pet Hair Remover is only effective when brushing in the direction of the white arrow on the handle.  If you go the wrong way, it won’t pick up the dog’s hair.

5. Gobeigo Pet Hair Remover

With a similar design to the Lilly Brush, the Gobeigo Pet Hair Remover has four sides with varying cleaning modes for a more customized experience.

With a round handle and trapezoidal ergonomic design, the Gobeigo is easy to hold and, according to the company, won’t result in your hand feeling sore after long use.

Made with silicone that is both soft and durable, the Gobeigo Pet Hair Remover is marketed for cleaning car carpet and home fabrics like sofas and clothing.

According to the company, removing dog hair has never been easier:

“Use the maximum density gear to clean a large area of pet hair. Use the medium density gear for secondary cleaning. Use the minimum density gear for deep cleaning. And use the smooth side for valuable fabric cleaning, to avoid pilling.”

6. FURemover Pet Hair Remover

Marketed as an all-in-one fur remover, the FURemover has a dual-sided lint brush – thick rubber bristles for grooming your dog and thin bristles for removing pet hair or lint from clothing, car interiors, and upholstery.

According to the company,

“The reusable, easy to clean, and durable FURemover Duo will save you money and produce less environmental waste than traditional lint rollers. And you won’t have to deal with sticky tapes or adhesive rollers. Simply wash away excess dog hair on the brush bristles by using soapy water to sanitize and renew. With regular care and maintenance, the FURemover will last for years.”

7. Scotch-Bright Roll Pet Hair and Lint Remover

The Scotch-Bright Lint Roller is inexpensive, tried, and true method for cleaning dog hair off of you, your home, and your car.

With its longevity on the market and accessibility, I wanted to include it in this review to see how the newer, more unique products stack up against the simple tape roller for large dog hair.

Made by 3M, the Scotch-Bright Roller picks up lint, fur, and dog hair with a reliable Scotch brand adhesive on 95 easy tear sheets.

It is marketed for use on clothing and furniture, but we will see how well it does on car interiors as well.

Pet Hair Remover Product Testing Method & Analysis

The Best Dog Hair Remover Tool Buyers Guide by Big Dog Mom

Each product in this review is brand new and unused with the exception of the Chom Chom Roller, as explained earlier.

They will be “unboxed” live on camera before the first test to mimic what a new purchase and cleaning experience will be like for you.

Four tests will be performed to see how well each of these dog hair removal tools picked up large dog hair on:

  1. Dog Bed
  2. Furniture (upholstery)
  3. Clothing (black pants)
  4. Car Interior (cargo carpet)

The test results on each surface will be recorded and weighted to give us a final ranking for all 7 products and to answer the question, “What is the BEST dog hair remover?”

For this analysis, I am giving weight to each of the four surfaces based on my own experience with large and giant breed dogs.

Getting dog hair off of clothing, for me, is much more significant than getting dog hair off of a dog bed, for example.

Therefore, I have weighted the following surfaces as such: Clothing (10), Car Interior (7), Furniture (4), and Dog Beds (1).

Keep in mind, if you are looking for a dog hair remover for just your couch, please feel free to completely disregard my analysis and focus just on the results for how well each tool removed dog hair from my furniture.

With that background, let’s see how well each of these products performed in our tests!

Dog Hair, No More!

The Best Pet Hair Remover Tool for Large Dogs [Definitive Buyers Guide] - by Big Dog Mom

Whether you have a Mastiff or a Newfoundland, nearly all big dogs shed, with the dog hair battle being one of the great consistencies of big dog ownership

If we let them, our droolies would take over our beds, our homes, and our lives.

But, remember friends, this is a battle.  A battle of autonomy.

Independence from dog hair consuming every nook and cranny of your existence.

How we respond to the “Pig Pen” at our feet is what separates US from THEM.

Good riddance dog hair!

Hello, FREEDOM!
